Duration: 4 Hours
If nature is not your thing and the wine farms are calling, get some exercise at the same time, get on a bike and join one of our Guided Mountain Bike Wine Tours.
Join one of our Guided Mountain Bike Wine Tours to visit three superb wine farms of your choice in the Franschhoek area for wine-tasting, scrumptious pairings, beautiful views and scenic rides.
Routes are flexible and cater to your taste and requirements. A flat route or one with a bit of an incline are available.
Pairings to choose from:
* Wine and pizza
* Wine and chocolates
* Wine and braai
* Wine and Caramels
* Brandy and Truffles
* Wine and biltong
* Wine and Turkish delights
* MCC bubbly and canapes
Many of the wine farms offer wonderful light dishes, so feel free to choose the “light eats” package. Just the thing to keep you going on the gentle ride home.
Tours start typically at 10:00am or 2:00pm and last from 3 to 4 hours. Please note the wine farms close at 5pm.
During winter certain farms are closed for their staff vacations and for maintenance. Route is therefore subject to change and availability.
We meet at the Franschhoek Adventure Centre and get fitted for our bikes and safety helmets.
After a short safety briefing and discussion of the farms to be visited, we head off to our first farm. The first part of the route takes place on the Main road and you are reminded that we ride on the left side of the road until we reach the bicycle track or a gravel shoulder.
We visit 3 wine farms with a short ride between each farm. At each venue you will be offered a variety of wines to choose from and the sommelier will be on hand to provide interesting information on the wines chosen.
After our 3rd farm we have a quick 10 minutes ride back into town.
- Includes bike rental, safety helmet and wine tasting costs.
- Where lunch and pairings have been chosen & paid online, these costs are covered also.
- Items of a personal nature.
- Please note we no longer supply water in a single-use plastic bottle, just our bit towards protecting our environment. The farms supply us with water as soon as we arrive.
- A light wind or rain jacket in winter.
- Water in a reusable water bottle.
- Closed shoes are a must.
- Comfortable clothing but biking gear is not essential.
- Safety Helmet is provided
General fitness and the ability to ride a bike are all that is required. But don't worry if you haven't ridden for years. It all comes back to you, just like... well, like riding a bike 🙂
No particular skills required except the ability to ride a bike. And an open mind and a desire to have fun!
We meet at and return to the Franschhoek Adventure Centre which is at Shop 5, upstairs @ 62 Huguenot Rd, Franschhoek (right next to the Tourism Office).
