Southern Africa is blessed with an enormous amount of wild birds, 950 or so species. It is fast becoming a birders paradise, with the hobby of bird-watching taking off strongly in many countries, and birders traveling to far flung places to add to their life lists.

While Franschhoek may not be known as a birding mecca, we have more than enough of our edemic and other birds to keep us happy.
